Seunghoon (Ryan) Pi, 16, is a student at Greater Atlanta Christian School and cellist under the instruction of Ray Kim, a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO). Since beginning his studies with Elaine Shin, Ryan has participated in ensembles such as All-State and the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO), of which he is currently a member since 2022. In the 2024-2025 season, Ryan received the Atlanta Symphony Musicians Foundation Scholarship. He was further named State Winner and Alternate in the Southern Division of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Competition 2024-2025 and won 3rd prize in the ASYO Concerto Competition 2024.
Prior accomplishments include recognition as Conference Recitalist of the Georgia Music Teachers Association (GMTA) State Audition in 2023 as well as awards at the MTNA Competitions in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Ryan is also a prize winner in previous editions of the Camerata Artists International Competition (CAIC) and the American Protégé International Competition.
As part of his current chamber group, the Strelitzia Trio, and his former, the Cypress Trio, Ryan has won Grand Prize at the Franklin Pond Chamber Music Competition and advanced to the semi-finals of the Coltman National Chamber Music Competition.
