Lucas Liu, 16, is currently a rising senior at the Westminster Schools who has been playing violin for 14 years and is a student under Mr. William Pu.
Lucas has been an active member of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra since his freshman year, where he has served as Principal Second Violin (9th grade), Co-Concertmaster (10th grade), and Associate Concertmaster (11th grade). He was also awarded Conference Recitalist at the 2024 Georgia Music Teachers Association (GMTA) State Competition and Third Prize at the 2024 MTNA state round. In 2024, he was selected as one of ten violin majors for the Governor’s Honors Program. Lucas is also an officer of the Music Service Cohort at his school, where he helps schedule regular performances at local retirement homes and around his school’s campus.
Lucas is currently a member of the Strelitzia Trio, coached by Ray Kim of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Formed in the summer of 2024, the trio has advanced to the semifinals of the 12th annual Coltman National Chamber Music Competition and won Grand Prize at the 2025 Franklin Pond Chamber Music Competition. With the trio, he has performed concerts with the Atlanta Chamber Players and opened a concert for the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra.
